Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) is the primary ingredient within the popular US cell volumiser and pre workout formulas, as it’s believed to increase muscle pumps, vascularity and overall workout intensity, due to its nitric oxide effects.
Our Arginine AAKG is 2 parts Arginine and 1 part alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG). Arginine acts as a precursor to nitric oxide (NO), a vasodilator that increases blood flow to the muscles. AKG is a natural molecule in the body that transports amino acids and also increases nitric oxide production and enhances blood flow.
The theory that consuming both together in turn leads to increased absorption of Arginine and increased NO. This leads to better delivery of oxygen and nutrients to working muscles, which may decrease muscle protein catabolism (breakdown) and increase protein synthesis.
Many users of Arginine AKG do experience increased workout intensity, muscle pumps and vascularity due to its nitric oxide effects, these assertions appear to be anecdotal and at present there is no reputable scientific evidence to back up these claims.
Whilst the results with Arginine AAKG are anecdotal, users can experience:
