L-Carnitine is a nitrogen-containing compound derived from L-Lysine & Methionine. L-Tartrate is a powderful antioxidant that has been attached to L-Carnitine to improve carnitine absorption.
L-Carnitine L-Tartrate has been shown to be more bio-available and faster absorbed than other forms of L-Carnitine (Eder K et al, 2005).
The carnitine molecule works by transporting fat (long-chain fatty acids) into the mitochondria (our energy generators) so they can be burned – hence the term fat burning. This produces the energy rich ATP. Once the energy is burned, carnitine transports the toxic compounds back out of the mitochondria. It is thus essential for the supply of energy to the muscles.
Other research has shown that L-Carnitine L-Tartrate can improve aerobic performance and also increase recovery, making it ideal for those looking to improve body composition as well as increase aerobic performance and recovery.
